This is a grayscale printer-The printer is not capable of printing color documents, so color detection is bypassed. In the Advanced Configuration area, select the Color detection mode : The Printer Details page is displayed showing the Summary tab contents. To convert jobs to grayscale, select one of the other detection options (either standard or page-level) and then use the Conversions (Convert to grayscale) feature on the Filters and restrictions tab, documented on the Convert or block print jobs - conversion and restriction filters page. This option will not convert all jobs to grayscale. This is why this option should only ever be used with a grayscale-only printer. PaperCut NG/MF will treat all jobs (and charge / record the jobs) to this printer as grayscale - even if the job printed in color. Selecting This is a grayscale printer will mean that color detection is switched off for that printer. PaperCut NG/MF can perform page-level color detection with most modern color printers. The color detection setting is available for each printer controlled by PaperCut NG/MF. This is a color printer (use page-level detection) - this setting uses page-level color detection, analyzing each individual page. This is a color printer (use standard detection) - this setting uses standard color detection (also referred to as document-level detection). This is a grayscale printer (disable color detection and charge all jobs as grayscale) - this setting should be used for grayscale printers, which are only capable of printing in grayscale / black and white. PaperCut NG/MF has three options for document color detection: When this option is selected, the user would be charged for one page at the color printer’s standard rate, and receive the grayscale discount for the other 20 pages. An enhanced alternative is to use page-level color detection. As a workaround, the user could send the document as two print jobs (one with just the first page containing color, and another with the rest of the document), but this is an inconvenience. When using standard color detection, the user is charged for 21 pages at the color printer’s standard rate.

The document is all grayscale except for a color header on the first page. This might be an inconvenience for users when a large document is printed with just a few color pages.įor example, a user prints a 21 page document to a color printer. Otherwise, the document is charged at the printer’s standard rate. When this flag is set on a document sent to a color printer, the grayscale discount is applied. The standard way used by PaperCut NG/MF to handle color in documents is to see if the printer’s driver has set the grayscale flag. Changing the detection method might require some additional printer configuration. The color detection setting determines the method used by PaperCut NG/MF to analyze documents for the presence of color. PRODUCTS FEATURED Set the color detection method
